Secrets consist of ammunition, medipaks and the occasional weapon. So unless you look at the walkthrough, you won't know how you've done until the end of the game. The number of secrets in each level varies, but unfortunately the stats screen doesn't tell how many there are in each level. A chime sounds when you locate a secret, and the statistics screen keeps a running total. Secrets: There are a total of 70 secrets in the game. (PC and Macintosh savegame files are available in case you make a bad save, want to skip a level, etc.) However, PlayStation and Dreamcast players should note that, unlike the previous adventures, this game doesn't allow you to go back to previously played levels unless you have a saved game from that level. Saving Your Game: Unlimited saves on all platforms. TRLR also brings the triumphant return of the compass and the separate sidestep keys! (See the controls page for details.) These include the ability to combine items, new moves like rope climbing and swinging, and traversing around corners, plus the choice of automatic or limited manual targeting (no mouse or right analog stick support). There are also a few changes in the gameplay, inventory and combat systems. The levels are also less linear, and backtracking between them is required in some cases. The Last Revelation features more seamless gameplay, with shorter load times and smoother segues between levels. Lara herself is smoother and more fully textured, with no blocky joints or gaps in her polygons. The overall look isn't radically different, but the scenery is well-crafted and highly detailed, and the designers have made good use of lighting effects and transparency. Graphics have been upgraded too - there are new light effects and water is now dripping from Lara's clothes when she gets on surface. What's New Since TR3: While there are a variety of locations-indoors and outdoors, city streets, desert canyons and crumbling ruins-all the action takes place in Egypt. Lara has also learned a few new moves: she can climb into the niches with low ceiling if the crouch button is pressed, she can now move around the corners while hanging and she can also pull levers and open trap-doors while jumping. Inventory now holds a binocular with built-in flashlight and a handy crowbar (found later in the game). The players will also find a laser sight which can be attached to any of the two weapons described above allowing manual targeting and zooming. The new additions to Lara's arsenal are a revolver and a bow with several sets of arrows including exploding and poisonous ones. The biggest addition is that now rather large parts of the game consist of several interconnected levels sometimes explored in any order, with puzzles in one level often requiring that some actions are done in other levels. Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation plays very similar to the previous games in the series, but some new things have been added to the game. Pursued at every turn by her arch-rival, the unscrupulous archaeologist Werner Von Croy, Lara embarks on a journey of discovery across Egypt, where she must overcome the most ingenious puzzles and infernal traps ever devised, and face terrifying evil from beyond the grave. According to Egyptian legend, Horus outwitted the evil god Set and imprisoned him in a secret tomb.įive thousand years later, Lara Croft discovers the lost tomb and unwittingly unleashes the Set, fulfilling the ancient prophecy of his return to plunge mankind into darkness! In a race against time, Lara must use all of her wit and skill to reimprison Set and save the world from Armageddon.
